The Life of Richard Roe

"Obituary for Richard Roe provided by Kenneth Roe; ; Memorial notice:; Services for Olathe Marine.; Services for Cpl. Richard Roe, 22, Olathe, who was killed in action March 1, 1945, in the incasion of Iwo Jima, will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday at the grave side in the Olathe Cemetery. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will participate.; Corporal Roe was born in Olathe and attended the public schools there. He enlisted in the Marines in February 1943. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Roe of the home; six sisters, Mrs. Lester Pearson, Pasadena Texas; Mrs. Stanley Linder and Mrs. Mabel Taylor, Spring Hill, Kansas; Mrs. Frank Spencer, Overland Park, and Miss Barbara Roe and George Reo of the home, and four brothers; Ralph Roe and George Roe of the home; Staff Sergt. Kenneth Roe, Wilmington Ohio; and Joe D. Roe seaman second class, Washington."
