IN MEM0RIAM

Carrie Borlesk , youngest daughter of Rev. W. R. and M. M, Smitb, died in Olathe, November 6th, 1879, aged six years, six months and sixteen days.

She was born in Iowa, removed, with the family to Greenwood, Mo., and expected to remove with them to Abilene, Kansas, on the day of her death. Being of delicate health, she had been placed in care of her aunt, Mrs. Pullin, and her improvement was remarked by many. Her mild and pleasant disposition won the hearts of strangers, and she was known only to be loved.

About November 1st, dipthers, accompanied November 4th by membraneous croup, caused her death on the 6th . Efforts to secure the presence of the fam ly before her departure were unavailing. When asked if she , wanted to see mama papa, she would open her eyes, look intelligently about and nod ner little head. The eleven o'clock train came, but brought  no papa or. mama. She could wait no longer to meet them. The clock struck the hour of twelve and with one slight struggle, her redeemed spirit took its flight to Him who said, 'Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven." There she awaits their coming.
