The Life of Harriet M Phillips

Death of Mrs. M. V. Phillips.

The death of Mrs. Harriet Phillips occurred at her home, 120 Buchanan street, Monday, February 25, 1918. The funeral service was from the home at 2:30 o''clock, Wednesday afternoon, February 27, conducted by Rev. M. M. Culpepper, of the Methodist church. Burial in the Olathe cemetery.

 Harriet M. Webber, who was the oldest of six children, three brothers and three sisters, was born in the state of New York, June 26, 1840. She moved, when a child, with her parents to La Porte county, Indiana, where they settled near Westville. She was united in marriage to M. V. Phillips, February 13, 1860.  They came to Kansas in 1869 and settled on a farm, 3 miles northeast of Olathe. In 1891 they moved to Olathe, where she has since lived. Her husband died May 13, 1908.

She is survived by one brother, Mark Webber, of Cedarlake, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. J. T. Stevens, of Demaig, New Mexico; three sons. Myron H. and Carlos F. of Olathe. and Dr. Frank A. Phillips, of Pasadena, California; 5 grand children. H. C. Phillips. Edith M. Woolverton. Martin K. Phillips, Call Phillips, Jr. and Miss Minnie Phillips.

She was a member of the Olathe Methodist church and Olathe Grange, in both of which she was formerly an active worker. Of late years she has lived a retired life on account of failing eyesight and poor health. She leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss, and the community loses one of their old pioneers and citizens who was held in the very best esteem  by everyone.
