The Life of Annella Wilkes

Annella Wilkes was born on December 16, 1940, to Foster and Fannie Mae Cravens in Moberly, Missouri. Annella went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 9, 2015.

She was one of five children and graduated from Moberly High School in 1958. Shortly after she moved to Kansas City to live with her sister Eujetta. It was there that she met the love of her life, Vernal Leonard Wilkes. They wed on October 7, 1960. Two sons came of their union, Gregory Jason Wilkes and Paul Leon Wilkes.

Annella was a faithful member of Church of the Living God P.G.T, Olathe, Kansas. Annella was extremely devoted to her husband and family. Her home and kitchen were always open to anyone in need. Annella was a beautiful pianist. She shared her gift by playing at church and numerous community services throughout the years.

Annella was preceded in death by her husband Vernal; parents, brother, Glendell Cravens, and sister Eujetta Fleming.

Annella is survived by her brother William Foster (Beverly), sister Doris Owens, and sister in law Connie Cravens; children Gregory Wilkes (Vikki) and Paul Wilkes; and her grandchildren Jason Wilkes (Alexandra), Kassandra (Wilkes) Mack (Maurice), Kristen Wilkes, Jared Wilkes (Lind-sae), and Kane Wilkes; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 10:30am – 12:00pm at Second Baptist Church, 331 N. Kansas Ave., Olathe, KS with Funeral service to begin at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Olathe Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested the American Cancer Society or the Sickle Cell Foundation.
