Obituary for Woodrow Wilson Berthlot, Sr. 

Woodrow Wilson Berthlot, Sr. passed away Friday, October 24, 2008 at his son's home in Midlothian after a long and full life in service to the country he loved in the U.S. Merchant Marines.

He was born to Wallace and Dana Berthlot on July 10, 1917 in Pt. Arthur, Texas was and later to moved to Beaumont where he met and married Syble Louise Curry who preceded him in death. 

Woodrow was the only surviving crewman from the S.S. Louisiana which was lost at sea in July, 1942. He is survived by a sister, Almeida Miller of Beaumont, son, Woodrow Berthlot Jr. and his wife, Anne of Midlothian, two daughters, Sandra of Mabank and Carla Woods and husband, Duane Young of Houston, and step-son, Robert Holts of Winchester, California. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Midlothian Funeral Home.
