The Life of John Bentley

DEATH OF JOHN BENTLEY.

Uncle John Bentley. one of the oldest colored men in Johnson county, if not the state, died at his home on North Walnut street in this city Friday, October 21, at the advanced age of between 90 and 95 years The funeral was held Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the colored local lodge A. F. and A. M., of which Uncle John was an honored member. It is doubtful if there were many men better known or more universally respected or held in higher esteem by both black and white residents of this community than was Uncle John Bentley.
