The Life of Sarah E Baker

KILLED BY THE CARS.

Mrs. B. J. Baker, of Olathe, was accidentally killed by a north bound Santa Fe freight train about 3 o'clock Monday afternoon. As far as we have been able to learn there was not an eye witness to the accident and  just how Mrs. Baker met death will probably never be known. The accident happened just in front of her residence on North Willie street

F. R Lanter and J. E. Wilkerson discovered her laying between the two tracks shortly after the train passed. She was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to her home where Coroner Mills was summoned. It was found that she had received a bad scalp wound and she died about 30 mihntes after beieg'picked np without regaining consciousness.

Mrs. Baker was on her way to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Art Hayes, when she met her death. An inquest will be held this morning (Thursday.)

Mrs. Baker was 71 years old and has been a resident of Johnson county for about 35 years. A husband, five daughters and two sons survive her. They are B.T. Baker and son, John, of Olathe, Mary Bowen, of Manse, Nev.,  Mrs. Harmon Rickets, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Mrs. Geo. Hopewell,  Mrs. Cbas. Ashlock and Scott Baker, of Kansas City, Kans., and Mrs. A.. L. Hayes, of Olathe.

The funeral services ot Mrs. Baker were held from the Baptist church Wednesday. Sept 12. at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H. G. Fraser, burial being made in Olathe cemetery.
