The Life of Nelson Buenos Ayres

End to N.B. Ayres

Nelson B. Ayres, well known Olathe citizen, died last Friday night at his home here at the age of 62 years. He was a native of Johnson county and for many years a highly respected citizen of Olathe. For the last year he had not been well. Immediately prior to that time he had been on the staff of the county engineer.

He was the father of Miss Naomi Ayres, clerk of the district court and regarded as the youngest county official serving in Kansas.

Surviving Mr. Ayres, in addition to the daughter, Naomi, are the widow, Mrs. Grace Ayres, another daughter Ruth Ayres, and two sons, Powell and Arthur Ayres.

Funeral services, held at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, were largely attended. Among the floral pieces was one sent in the names of all the county officials and members of the Johnson County Bar Association.

Among the active pall bearers were six members of Edgerton Lodge, A.F. and A.M. Honorary pall-bearers included members of the Masonic bodies from Overland Park, Gardner, Edgerton, and Olathe, and members of the local chapter, Order of De Molay.

The Olathe High School football team was represented at the services as was D. R. Ott's band.

Rev. E. M. Daniels preached the funeral sermon. Interment was in Olathe Cemetery, W.L. Frye and Sons in charge.
