OBITUARY.

Died, in Kansas, City. Mo., Feb. 28, 1903, of pneumonia, Bertram Harrison Arrasmith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Arrasmith, at the age of 19 years 9 months and 15 days.

The enitre community was shocked when the news spread that the reaper, death, had claimed as its victim this robust, promising young man. But mysterious indeed are the ways of providence and after a brief illness ot only a week's duration he passed away.

Bert, as he was familiarly called by his family and associates, had been in the employ of the railroad company in Kansas City for some time and had made staunch friends there who proved faithful to him in his last sickness and although away from home, several or his immediate family and relatives were with him during his illness. Everything that care and kindness could do to mitigate his sufferings was cheerfully done.

He was born and raised on the home farm, six miles east of Olathe, where his parents have spent all their married life. He was a grandson of Abner Arrasmith, deceased, who was one of the pioneers of Johnson county.

Bert was one of a family of nine children, three of whom have gone to rest. The funeral services were conducted in the M. E. church in Olathe on the afternoon of March 2d at 2:30 p. m.. by Rev. McNutt, pastor of the Presbyterian church. The floral tributes covered the casket and were extremely beautiful. An anchor, a wreath and several other designs of equal beauty were noted. The remains were interred in Olathe cemetery. The deceased had a host of friends, six young men, associates from Stanley and vicinity, acted as pall bearers and although the roads were almost impassable a large concourse of friends attended the services to show their esteem for the departed and a sympathy for the bereaved father, mother, sisters and brothers so suddenly bereft of one so dear to them.

"Not now, but in the coming years.
It may be in the better land,
We'll read the meaning of our tears,
And there, sometime, we'll understand."
