The Life of Angeline Allison

Angeline Edson was born in Columbia County, Wisconsin April 14th, 1849. Her childhood was spent on a farm in the hardwood belt of Wisconsin, where she went to the public schools, later going to the Normal school at Platteville; after which she engaged in teaching, beginning in a country district. 

In 1869 the EDson family moved from Wisconsin to Blairetown, Ia., Angeline remained one year, in Wisconsin as a teacher in the Columbus City School. When she rejoined the family in Iowa she resumed teaching, and taught continuously in the schools at Belle Plain and Vinton until her marriage to M.J. Allison of Cedar Rapids, where the Allisons established their home. Living at different brief periods of time, at Walnut Ia., and CHicago, Ill., they returned to Cedar Rapids, from whence they came in 1886 to Republic County, Kansas settling on a farm near Cuba.

They came to Johnson county in 1896, and have lived since near and upon the present homestead. 

Mrs. Allison was active in W.C.T.U. in its beginning and continued militant in Prohibition and Woman's suffrage. 

She had been a member of the Sigournean club and was an active worker for a score of years, maintaining zeal in its advancement, and a rare personal interest in the well being of its individual members. 

Rev. Scrivner conducted the funeral services from the home Monday afternoon. Burial in the Olathe cemetery.
