The Life of Seth Stevens Akin

Obituary.

Mr. S. S. Akin died at the residence of his son-in-law, Wm. Morrison, on West Santa Fe avenue in this city Saturday morning, March 4th, 1893, the funeral services being conducted at the house by Rev. A. V. Stout of the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock. March 5.

The funeral was largely attended by truly sympathizing friends, the burial taking place in the Olathe cemetery. Seth S. Akin was born in Fayette county, Ky., June 17th, 1836,  where he lived till 1853 when he, with his parents, moved to Missouri, living there till 1870, when he emigrated to Kansas, buying a farm 6 miles north-west of Olathe where he resided almost 23 years, having moved to Olathe in August, 1892.

The deceased was a devoted member of the Presbvterian church for a number of vears and exemplified his Christian character in his everyday life. His disease was paralysis from which he suffered greatly, first being attacked nearly two years ago, since which time he has been a constant sufferer, but never uttering one word  of complaint, trusting in God and knowing he doeth all things well; he was willing and ready when his time came.

He leaves a widow and three daughters, Mrs. Willie Morrison, his daughter, Hettie and Mrs. Kate Witt, an adopted daughter at Parkville, Mo., one brother John Akin, residing near his old home, and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Wilhite, living near Olathe, and a host of relatives and sympathizing friends.

In his death the children lose a loving adviser, the wife, the faithful companion who is happy in the consciousness of having administered with kind and loving hands to all of his wants in the sickness with which he was afflicted so long; the brother and sister, the companions of his childhood, who in his days of affliction sought to smooth the pain and suffering away, and the community a respected citizen. A. FRIEND
