The Life of Adam Steven Ward

Adam Steven Ward, 36, of Olathe, passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2015.

He was born January 8, 1979, to Steven and Sharon Ward of Olathe, KS. He graduated from Olathe South High School in 1997 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology from the University of Kansas in 2003.

While at KU, Adam traveled to Israel and Italy on exclusive archeological digs through the Department of Anthropology. A lifelong student, Adam never stopped learning. He constantly yearned for nuances in modern science, while seeking out opportunities to connect with the past through history and genealogy.

A consummate Jayhawks and Royals fan, Adam took pride in his community. He was an Eagle Scout, and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member in the BSA camping honor societies Order of the Arrow and Tribe of Mic-O-Say, where he was a Hard-way Warrior. Adam journeyed to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, worked on Camp Naish summer staff, and completed countless service projects.

Adam inspired friends and family with his thirst for adventure, knowledge and impeccable taste in music. He rallied behind the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Doors, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Pink Floyd, Oasis and Smashing Pumpkins – to name a few.

Surviving family includes his parents, Steven and Sharon Ward; sister, Alison Kidd, and her husband Donovan; uncle, Jerold Hanson; uncle, Allen Ward, his wife, Sandra, and their sons Tim and Matt; and longtime girlfriend, Debbie Clark, and her daughters, Mackenzie and Lindsay.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Glen Ward; grandparents; Betty and Jack Hanson, and best canine friend, Maggie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Boy Scouts of America and The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. Memorial services will be held privately.
