The Life of DONALD LEE HIATT

Donald L. Hiatt was born January 25, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa to Clinton and Mary (LePorte) Hiatt. Don lived in Des Moines all of his life and graduated from East High School. He was a finance clerk in the Army during Vietnam then after discharge he returned to Des Moines and entered the apprenticeship program for glaziers. He was a member of Glaziers Local 1075 serving as president for several terms and retired in 2006 from Architectural Walls. Don passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, after having sustained a heart attack and 2 strokes.

Don''s hobbies included golf, horse racing and gambling at Prairie Meadows, and was an avid sports fan. Don was always the life of the party with his "joke of the day" and his quick wit. Spending time with family and friends was one of the best parts of his day.

Don is survived by his brother, David Hiatt (Cathy Cody); daughter, Diana Holper (Gary); his girlfriend, Kristy Wilson and her daughter, Tori; 2 grandsons; 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends too plentiful to mention by name.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2015, at Hamilton''s Funeral Home 605 Lyon St., Des Moines. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Highland Memory Gardens. Reception to follow at The Fremont, 1030 E. 9th St., Des Moines, Iowa starting at 2:00 pm.
