The Life of LESTER WORLEY ISLEY

Lester Isley, 76, passed away on October 26, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born January 27, 1939, in Dallas, Iowa the son of Chester and Alice Isley.

Les worked for the Des Moines Public Schools for many years as an Engineer, spending a great deal of his time at East High School. He retired from the DMPS in the Transportation Department. Les enjoyed gardening, yardwork, fishing and traveling. Above all else, he treasured time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Les is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda; son, James (Laurie) Isley; daughters, Lesly Thompson and Lori (Gordon) Miller; 6 grandchildren, Allison Thompson, Tyler Miller, Tara (Rafael) Luna, Brenna Thompson, Jacob Miller and Tessa Thompson; 2 step-grandchildren, Josh and Jasmine; and 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Gabriella; his siblings, Larry Isley, Grace Briley, Marylee Fitch, Roberta Selsor and Bob Higdon; as well as other loving relatives, and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Thomas Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery following the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Les.
