The Life of Glenn Moore Spitler JR

Glenn Moore Spitler, Jr.

Died at his house in Alexandria, VA on September 6, 2021. He was 78 years old. Glenn was born in 1943 in Arlington, VA to Glenn Moore Spitler, Sr. and Jean Brooks Bricker Spitler. He attended Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, VA. After receiving his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from George Washington University, Glenn married Ann Davis Spitler and settled in Alexandria, VA. Glenn and Ann recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with their family in Greenville, SC. 

Glenn volunteered with the Arlington Lions Club. Glenn served Christ Church in Alexandria, VA, as a vestry member, lay reader, usher, and Sunday School teacher. 

Glenn is survived by his wife, Ann Davis Spitler, of Alexandria, VA; his daughter, Elizabeth Lanier Spitler, of Alexandria, VA; and his son, Glenn Moore Spitler, III, wife Mollye Crowell Spitler, and spirited 7-month old son, Tucker Thomas Spitler, of Greenville, SC. Glenn is also survived by his sister, Susan Spitler Ariail, and husband, Robert Mills Ariail, Jr., of Greenville, SC; and his brother-in-law, John Wilson Davis, Jr., and wife, Karen Davis, of Richmond, VA. 

He loved swimming, cycling, and reading Civil War history. Glenn worked as a Computer Systems Manager for the U.S. government for many years. 

Glenn’s burial will be on Friday, September 10 at 9 a.m. at Ivy Hill Cemetery, 2823 King St, Alexandria, VA 22302. Services will be held on Friday, September 10 at 10 a.m. at Christ Church, 118 N. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314, with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Organ Fund at Christ Church.
