The Life of CURT THOMAS BOLTE

Curt Thomas Bolte, 47, suddenly passed away in his home in the early morning hours of July 18, 2015.

Curt was born to Fred and Ginger Bolte on August 24, 1967 in Des Moines. He graduated with honors from Ankeny High School in 1986 where he was a four-sport athlete and Varsity letterman. After graduation he attended Simpson College where his love for playing football continued until he graduated Summa Cum Laude. There he met the love of his life and soulmate, Kim, and they were joined in marriage on August 11, 1990. His focus on higher education eventually led him to Kaplan University where he worked for over 12 years as the Registrar for the Des Moines and Omaha campuses.

Curt spent much of his time following the University of Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Royals. His additional hobbies included fishing, collecting sports cards and memorabilia, and spending time with his wife and children. Above all his greatest love was for his family, and his passion was watching his children grow and succeed. Though they were involved in numerous activities, Curt never missed an event. His devotion was unparalleled and admired by relatives and friends alike.

Curt is survived by his wife; Kim Bolte, sons; Brandon and Brett, parents; Fred and Ginger Bolte, niece; Crystal (Paul) Van Beek, uncles and aunts; Dave and Kathy Gimer of Iowa Galls, IA, Paul Gimer of Los Osos, CA, Richard Gimer of Potomac, MD, Curt''s in-laws; Roy (Sandra) Crabtree, sister-in-law; Kristen (Peter) Groff, brother-in-law; Kirk Crabtree, as well as other extended family and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lori Muehlenthaler and grandparents Tom and Marie Gimer and Boyd and Florence Bolte.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday July 22, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church (206 SW Walnut St. Ankeny, IA 50023). A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday July, 23, 2015, at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow services in the Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In honor of Curt''s unmatched passion for the Hawkeyes, all guests are encouraged to wear their "black and gold" to the services.

Memorial Contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Animal Rescue League in Curt''s name.
