The Life of RUSSELL VICTOR WALKER

Russell Victor Walker, 93, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 with his family by his side.

Russell was born October 15, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa to Harry and Mabel Walker. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945 during World War II and was honored to have recently participated in the Freedom Flight to Washington D.C. He was a Mason at Acanthus Lodge #632 and a member of the Za Ga Zig Shrine in Altoona, Iowa. He loved his family and was a first class grandpa.

Russell is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty; children, William (Pam) Walker, Mark Walker, Donna (Eugene) Davis, Bonnie (John) Mackin, Bruce (Patty) Fulton, and Mark Fulton, fifteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Fulton.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, followed by burial with military honors at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
