James (Giacomo) F. DellaVolpe, age 93, of Ansonia, passed away in his home on July 7, 2015, after an extended time in heartfelt Hospice care. Beloved husband of the late Louise Bellis DellaVolpe, he was born the 2nd of nine children in Ansonia of Albert and Philomena DellaVolpe. Known to friends and family as ''Jack'', he was passionate about golf. He was a member of Highland Golf Club of Shelton, and was one of the founding members of Whitney Farms Men''s Association. He once achieved two ''holes-in-one'' in the same game at Pine Valley Golf Course. He enjoyed playing cards with his circle of friends and going to the casino — especially with his late friend ''Ice Man''. Jack was a diehard Yankees fan, who also loved the New York Giants and the Rangers. He was a sports trivia genius and will be remembered for his wealth of sports knowledge and his ability to answer all forms of trivia. He was a long-time member of a duckpin bowling league at Valley Bowl which won a national tournament. He was a foreman at American Brass Company In Ansonia, and later worked at Griffin Hospital and Housatonic Lumber in Derby. Jack served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII and received the Victory Medal for his service there. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, and 7 siblings: Vincent, Mary Menna, Edith "Dee" DiStasi, Albert, Mira "Vee" DellaVolpe, Anthony, and Dominc. He is survived by his brother John, of Ansonia; his children Darryl of Framingham, MA; Jamie of Ansonia; Daniel and his wife Denise, of Milford; and Peter of Ansonia. He doted on his three grandchildren, Amanda Wheeler of Oxford, Daniel of Port Orange, FL, and Ashley of Derby. Jack would lend a helping hand to a friend or neighbor In need at any time of day or night. He received a commendation after the Ansonia 1955 flood for bravely going into his place of work and shutting the factory down in order to save it from the flood. He was a supreme prankster and storyteller and with his wit would keep everyone entertained for hours until his last days.

Calling Hours will be on Friday from 4-7pm in the Bennett Funeral Home 91 N. Cliff St. Ansonia, on Saturday family and Friendw will meet at the Funeral Home starting at 9am with a Service at 9:45 am Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery with full Military Honors.
