The Life of Joseph M. Jr. Gruttadauria

Joseph M. Gruttadauria, Jr., age 66, of Derby entered into eternal rest on Sunday June 28, 2015. Joseph was born in Derby on August 15, 1948, son of the late Joseph M. Gruttadauria, Sr. and Carmella (Guaneri) Gruttadauria.

He graduated from Derby High School in 1966 where he played multiple varsity sports, football being his passion. He went on to attend Milford Academy where he would continue his football career and eventually coach. Joseph served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1974. Joseph was a realtor for many years throughout CT, both as owner of J.M. Dauria Realty and as a top five broker for Carrington Real Estate. Joseph also was the morning supervisor and pool operator at the Derby Community Center where he will be missed by many staff and members. In his spare time Joseph enjoyed maintaining his beautiful home and property as well as watching the Yankees, Giants and UConn Huskies.

He was the devoted husband of 33 years to Kathleen (Gaidosz) Gruttadauria. Joseph is the loving father of Joseph M. Gruttadauria III(finance Aubrey Beaudoin) and David Gruttadauria (Barby Giannettino), brother of Salvatore and Anthony Gruttadauria, Lucy Miserez, Josephine Pisacane and Francis Mantini. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. On Thursday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church. His military honors service will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
