She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Edwin Regan, Jr., her parents, Edward Joseph Loupe and Blanche Delaune Loupe; and two sisters, Mary Edward Loupe and Blanche Loupe Stowell.

Mrs. Regan was born February 16, 1921 in New Roads, Louisiana to Dr. Edward Joseph Loupe and Blanche Delaune Loupe. She graduated from St. Joseph''s Academy in New Roads in 1937, then attended LSU where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education in 1941. She was married to Willie Edwin Regan from Monroe, Louisiana on November 10, 1942. The couple lived briefly in Alexandria, Louisiana and Biloxi, Mississippi until moving to Lafayette in 1952. Here, Mr. and Mrs. Regan reared their daughters until Willie''s untimely death in 1974. Mrs. Regan went on to delight in her grandchildren.

Besides being devoted to her own family, Mrs. Regan extended her care to other children in our community, first as the owner of The Little Red Schoolhouse from 1952-1966, then with the special education department of Lafayette Parish Schools until 1982. Following the completion of her Master''s degree from USL in 1970, she served a five-year term working under State Superintendent of Education Louis Michot from 1972-1977. It was during this time that she developed and coordinated the Louisiana Learning Resource Systems which provided special education services to teachers and students statewide.

Following her retirement, she served as the Executive Director of Volunteer Instructors Teaching Adults (VITA) for four years providing reading instruction to non-reading adults. Her contributions to professional societies included Phi Kappa Phi, Louisiana Association of Educators, Southern Association of Children Under Six, Louisiana Association for Retarded Children, Council for Exceptional Children, Regional Coordinator of Very Special Arts Festivals, Lafayette Pre-School Teachers Association (serving as president from 1958-1962), and Lafayette Parish Retired Teachers Association.

In addition to her professional service, Mrs. Regan was a generous volunteer in her church. Beginning in 1952, she contributed her time and talents to Our Lady of Fatima Parish, having served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Board of Stewards, the Perpetual Adoration Society and the Bendel Gardens Rosary Group. She served on the Deanery Council of the Diocese of Lafayette, the Diocesan Synod and was honored to portray her patron saint, St. Therese of Liseux, at the Bishop''s Charity Ball in 1995.

Mrs. Regan extended her call to charity beyond her own church through various community volunteer organizations. She served as president and vice president of Lafayette General Hospital Pink Ladies and was one of the first volunteers for Hospice of Acadiana. She served as president and longtime member of L''Heure d''Amitie Women''s Club, International Good Neighbors'' Council and member and president of Krewe of Attakapas.

Prior to her husband''s death, the couple was active in Krewe of Gabriel and Order of the Troubadours as well as Oakbourne Country Club and Lafayette Town House Club. They were proprietors of Regan''s Racquet and Tennis Shop. Through the years, she enjoyed traveling across the United States, Mexico and Europe with family and friends, enjoying other cultures and sampling other cuisines. Those who knew her knew she lived out one of her favorite quotes from her volunteering days at Hospice, "You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but to live until you die." In the spirit of her Catholic faith, we know she lives and loves on.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN on Sunday from 6 PM until 8 PM and will continue Monday at 8 AM until the time of the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to any of the following organizations, in Mrs. Regan''s name, to Hospice of Acadiana, Our Lady of Fatima Foundation or VITA.

The family wishes to express gratitude for the care, support and kindnesses by so many excellent caregivers who consistently provided her with gentle and loving care, most notably, Hospice of Acadiana.
