The Life of DAVID FRANKLIN BAKER

David “Red” Baker, 85, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 in Des Moines. He was born August 4, 1929 in Bloomfield, IA and is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Eva Baker and sister, Christine and her husband, I.O. Weede.

David was employed by Solar Aircraft in Des Moines and retired from the City of Des Moines Parks Department where he worked as an equipment operator. He enjoyed many years of camping and motorcycling and spent retirement years wintering in Florida.

David leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Helen; son, Dan (Sherry); grandsons, Daniel (Jodi) and Jeremy (Stacie); great-grandchildren, Mekhail, Trinity, Joslynn, Delaney, Emersynn, Ryan, Jordan, and Jake; and nieces, Kathy, Diana, and Jane. Also left behind is his little dachshund, Missy.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In remembrance of David, memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League in Des Moines.
