The Life of VELMA LEE DAVIS
Velma Davis, 77, passed away on May 30, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. She was born in Trenton, Missouri, on August 11, 1937.
Velma graduated from Trenton High School and attended business school. She married Richard Davis on August 29, 1986. Velma managed the shoe department at Walmart for 16 years and was a bookkeeper at the clinic on 42nd & Ingersoll for 9 years.
During her younger years, she enjoyed singing at the church in Trenton, MO. Velma loved shopping, especially at Younkers, and she enjoyed traveling, going out to eat, and spending time with her dog, Robin.
Velma is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Fayette (Steve) Fonte of Corpus Christi, TX and Lora Herweh of Des Moines; step-children, Bruce Davis and Karen; sister, Fay Lathrop of Carlisle, IA; as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
