The Life of ANNETTE LOUISE GUGGEDAHL HINTZ

Annette "Anne" Louise Guggedahl Hintz passed away on April 26, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2 at Central Presbyterian Church, 3829 Grand Avenue, Des Moines. Private urn burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Anne was born in Williston, North Dakota on July 18, 1929 to Albert and Bernice Baker Guggedahl. Her family moved to Des Moines where she attended Des Moines public schools, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1947. She received a B.S. in Dietetics from Iowa State University and an M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Iowa. She went on to work as a consulting dietitian and taught in the Hotel Restaurant Management program at Des Moines Area Community College. She retired in 1996 from Iowa State University, where she taught in the CUP dietetics program through Methodist Hospital.

Anne was an avid volunteer. She was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church, the American Dietetics Association and Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She also dedicated many hours to ChildServe, Methodist Hospital and the ARL. She was honored with the United Way Continuing Community Service Award in 2000.

Anne is survived by her sister, Ruth Gilbert of Lenexa, KS; daughters, Julie (Clayton) Murphy of Des Moines, IA and Carolyn (Mike) Lease of Grapevine, TX; daughter-in-law, Jill Hintz (Bill) Roche of Mahtomedi, MN; grandchildren, Andrei and Genia Murphy, Steve Scott, and Jeff and Ted Hintz; and her cat, Princess. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Guggedahl; her daughter Kathy; her son, Brian; her granddaughter, Amy Scott and her former husband, D. Charles Hintz.
