The Life of RUTHANN CHUMBLEY
Ruthann Chumbley, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on April 6, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. On that day, her journey ended and she received her wings. She was born to Jesse and Mae Byers on November 24, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ruthann attended North High School. She married the love of her life, Lester W. Chumbley on January 3, 1948, and they had 8 children. Ruthann was a homemaker, devoting herself to her family and home.
Ruthann is survived by her children, Roger Leslie Chumbley of Des Moines, Rosalind Lea Embry of Ankeny, Randy Leland (Melissa) Chumbley of Milo, Rosemary Lynn (Al) Voll of Des Moines, Rita Louise (Kirk Williams) Chumbley of Crystal Lake, IA, and Robin Lori Belz. She was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Ruthann was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; son, Rodney Lester Chumbley, and infant son, Richard Leon Chumbley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
