The Life of DOROTHY CLEOTIS JOHNSON
Dorothy C. Johnson, 91, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at her home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Iles Dunn''s Chapel in Des Moines where her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
Dorothy was born March 19, 1923 in Grinnell, IA to David and Lulu Mae Carpenter. She grew up in Hutchinson, KS and graduated from AIB College in Des Moines. In 1944 Dorothy married Wallace Johnson in Coral Gables, FL. The couple settled in Sumner, IA where they raised their family and Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper in the family oil business. She was active in the community with women''s organizations, as a Den Mother, and bowling and golf leagues.
After retiring the family moved to Florida. Dorothy traveled, enjoyed cruises, and loved fishing in Canada. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Diana Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Ted Johnson of Brooklyn, NY, Timothy Johnson of West Des Moines; grandchildren: Jordan and Skylar; great grandchildren: Avari and Cassie. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, and son Steven Johnson.
