The Life of Paul Lewis Davis Sr.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Community Baptist Church 800 Rue du Belier, Lafayette, LA 70506, for Paul Davis, Sr., 85 who passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 6:47 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

Brother Tom Lambert will conduct the Funeral Service.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years Peggy Davis, son Paul Davis, Jr. and his wife Kim, daughter Sandra Dunnington and her husband Scott, four grandchildren, Meagan and Erin Davis, and Caitlin and Steven Dunnington. Special friends left behind are too numerous to count, but include Phil and Babette Brown, Pat and Alice Sheffield, Iris Castille, and all their Meadowview neighbors. The family wants to give special thanks to Loretta Stevenson, Pam Arvie, and Rachel Lazard for their loving care.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ruby Davis; brothers, William Terrell and Dick; sisters, Ruby and Nell; and daughter Pamela.

Paul was born in Hermanville, MS and grew up in Port Gibson, MS graduating from Port Gibson High School in 1948. He joined the US Air Force in 1950 and served for four years, including 2 years in Guam. Paul finished his service in Reno, NV, where he met the love of his life Margaret "Peggy" Mullen. He attended the University of Nevada at Reno and completed his Bachelor of Science in Geology at LSU in 1959. Paul married Peggy in 1954 and after graduation from LSU moved to Lafayette, where they resided until his death. He spent more than 50 years in the oil industry, starting his career as a mud logger at Subsurface Evaluation in 1959. He then helped form Drill Labs, Inc., working there as a Salesman and President. Paul was an active member and Deacon of Community Baptist Church in Lafayette. He touched countless lives with his spriritual counseling and was a pillar of faith for his community. Paul was an avid vegetable gardner, a do-it-all handyman, and a master lawn maintainer. He will be missed by so many who knew and loved him.

The family requests that visiting hours will be held at Community Baptist Church on 800 Rue du Bellier Lafayette, LA 70560, on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will resume on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 9:00 am until time of service.

The Pallbearers will be Ed Sims, Jim Poole, Glen Wheeler, Nelson Deville, Phil Brown, and Pat Sheffield. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Saucier, Jim Turner, John Keller, Jesse Stafford, and Ben Clark.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions in Paul''s name be sent to the Community Baptist Church, 800 Rue de Belier, Lafayette, LA 70596 and designated for the Children’s Ministry.
