The Life of NOEL ELAINE WILSON WECKMAN
Noel WeckmanDes MoinesNoel (Wilson) Weckman, 67, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center.
She was born November 29, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lawrence and Vera (Kyar) Wilson. Noel was raised on a farm east of Norwalk where she attended Norwalk Community schools. She loved horses and the farm life nurtured her love for animals. During her younger years she lived in various rural Iowa communities and later in life settled in on the Des Moines south side where she raised her four children. Noel had a gift of helping anyone in need. She had a warm heart with an un-forgettable smile and a great sense of humor. She loved cooking and hosting family holidays. She enjoyed having her own garden, and loved feeding the local birds and wildlife. Noel loved her many cats and going to garage sales. She loved getting a great deal and shared those treasures with many. She was blessed with her family and friends and treasured time spent with her grandchildren.
Noel will be greatly missed by her children, Christopher Weckman, Amy Haskin, Kimberly Berry, and Michael Weckman; siblings, Jay and Brian Wilson, five grandsons; two granddaughters, one great-grandson; and a host of extended family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Lawrence and Vera (Kyar) Wilson.
A memorial service honoring Noel will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014, visitation is at 11:00 am, service begins 12:00 p.m. with lunch following. The service is located at the Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordon Creek Pkwy, West Des Moines, IA 50266. The Chapel is located inside the south entrance.
