The Life of VIOLET RUTH FLAUGH

Violet R. Flaugh, 86, was born July 11, 1928 the daughter of V. Earl and Lillie Dawson in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away on January 5, 2015.

Violet lived in Des Moines most of her life until moving to Norwalk in 1977 where her and her husband owned an acreage. She spent her later years in eastern Iowa. On April 14, 1946 she married Clyde Flaugh, and from this union three children were born, Sherry, James and Marsha. Together Violet and Clyde owned and operated Flaugh Auto Service. Violet continued her work there after Clyde’s passing in 1992. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, quilting and fishing with her family.

Violet is survived by her children, Sherry Butcher of Las Cruces, NM, James (Kathy) Flaugh of Vinton, IA, and Marsha (Steve) Jennerjohn of Swisher, IA; grandchildren, Lisa Ireland, Douglas Butcher, Jr., Brandie Butcher, Ryan Flaugh, Tara Jennerjohn and David Jennerjohn; six great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and siblings Virgil Dawson, Gladys Conn and Lillie Matlage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; three grandchildren, Richard Flaugh, Daniel Flaugh and Lee Prather; and eight siblings.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
