The Life of RITA RUTH HASTINGS OLINE

Rita Ruth Oline, 81, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Trinity Center of Luther Park in Des Moines from complications of Alzheimers.

Rita was born on July 26, 1933 in upstate New York, to Jessie R Johnson and Lawrence M Hastings. Rita was the third girl, joining her sisters Rose and Arlene. Their brother Paul joined them two years later.

Rita married Elmer Lee and had two daughters Rhonda and Deb. She later married Stan Oline until his death in 2004. Rita worked at North High School in Des Moines in various positions including Registrar until she retired in 1989.

Rita was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie; father, Lawrence; sisters, Rose Wilson Adams and Arlene Stang; husband, Stan Oline; and her loving companion, Bob Henderson.

She is survived by her brother, Paul (Kay) Hastings; daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Nyman and Deb (Scott) Crane; stepsons, Greg (Polly) Oline and Martin (Claudia) Oline; grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Mack, Jake (Sherri) Nyman, Tony Crane, Cindy Nyman, and Addie Nyman; great grandchildren, Anthony Crane, Kenny, Mike Jr, Karenza Mack and Jasmine Evins; nieces, Ramona (Jim) Kline and Roberta Hastings; nephews, David and George Wilson, Warren, Wes and Alan Hastings; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

The family will greet visitors from 5 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the ARL in Rita’s name or to the family.
