The Life of HELEN LORRAINE COOK

Helen Lorraine Cook, 99, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center in Des Moines, Iowa, where she had been living for the last six years.

Helen (Wagner) Cook was born August 3, 191,5 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Leonard and Victoria (Matykovich) Wagner. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1933. She married Rex Cook and they enjoyed 57 years together. Helen and Rex enjoyed vacationing at their cottage on Clear Lake. In her younger years, Helen was the bookkeeper for her husband’s plumbing business.

Helen had a strong faith and was an active member of Stover Memorial Church of the Brethren. She was a member of the Questers Club and collected antiques for many years. Helen enjoyed working in her yard and tending her flower gardens. She was an avid bridge player and liked working with ceramics.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Raymond Cook and her son, Breon Cook.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
