The Life of George Leach
CANFIELD - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Green Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel for George W. Leach Sr., 79, who died early Sunday morning at his residence.
George was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Youngtown, the son of the late Thomas and Thelma (Waller) Leach.
Mr. Leach was retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube, where he worked for many years. He spent his summers at the Canfield Fair, working at the pony rides. He enjoyed woodworking and crafts, as well as fishing, spending time at the beach, and boating.
He leaves behind his two sons, George (Jason) Leach of Columbus, and Jeff (Rosemary) Leach of North Carolina; his four step-children, Danny Duganne of North Carolina, Christine (Dwight) Coler of Salem, Cathy (Dan) Bair of Austintown and Carrie (Joel) Schleef of Ravenna; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings Chuck (Karen) Leach, Bill Leach, and Josephine Gay; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen A. Leach, whom he married on May 10, 1975; daughter Terrie Shiderly; one granddaughter; three sisters; and one brother.
