The Life of Ira Wilkinson

Ira J. Wilkinson, a 97 year old resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest Dec. 12. He was born in Ansonia July 9, 1917, son of the late Ira J. Wilkinson and Amy Peters Wilkinson. He graduated from Ansonia’s Pine High School and worked as a machinist for Farrel Corp. for 42 years, until retirement. Ira was a veteran of U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of Saint Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church in Bridgeport. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Beverly Wright and husband William of Ansonia and son Robert Wilkinson and wife Eileen in Naugatuck, and 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Elmer and Edward Wilkinson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16th with friends and family gathering at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, CT at 8:45 a.m. (www.jenkinskingfh.com) The Funeral will leave for a 10:00 a.m. funeral service at Saint Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Ave. Bridgeport CT (06604) with Very Rev. Father Romanos Malouf officiating. (stnicksbpt@antiochian.org) Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Trisagion services beginning at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to his church.
