The Life of MARILYN GRACE GERSTENKORN
Marilyn Grace Gerstenkorn, 88, died, Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Urbandale Heath Care Center in Urbandale. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 14, at Iles-Westover Chapel where the family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service. Private burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Marilyn was born August 18, 1926, in Chicago Heights, IL, daughter of Wilbert and Elsie Schweer. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in Illinois, and married Warren Gerstenkorn. They moved to Des Moines in the 1950''s where they made their home and raised their daughter. Marilyn worked at Bonds of Beaverdale clothing store for 25 years, retiring in 2006. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Des Moines and later joined Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale.
Surviving are her daughter, Janis (Jeffrey) Watts of Urbandale, and granddaughter, Stevie Watts.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Gladys Johnston.
