The Life of JOHN KENNETH HOUGE
John Kenneth Houge passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the age of 55 at Bright Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines. He was born September 4, 1959 in Des Moines and was raised by Russell and JoLene.
John graduated from Tech High School in 1979 and starting working at Demolition driving a dump truck, bob cats and graders. He later drove semi-trucks, farmed, laid asphalt, and installed tile.
John served in the Army Reserves for eight years where he worked in heavy artillery. He was a member of local Teamsters Union and ABATE. John enjoyed playing pool, riding his Harley, taking care of his horses, gardening and cooking.
John is survived by his wife; Kristily, daughters; Alicia (Pete) Freeman and Kimberly (Chivas) Keller, grandchildren; Noah, Aubree, Allie Ray and Dallas, mother; JoLene (Thomas) Nosbisch, sister; Michelle (Scott) Torres,nieces; Brooke, Kerrigan and Ava, step-sons; David and Eric Downey and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Russell Dean Houge in 1979.
A celebration of life will be held from10 am until service time at 11 am, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. A burial of cremated remains will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to HCI Care Services Bright Kavanagh House in loving memory of John.
