The Life of Kenneth J Magnon

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at an 11:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette for Kenneth Magnon, 82, who died on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his family.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Taj Glodd, Associate Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Rachel Burley and Erin Fontenot. Giftbearers will be Hannah Mitchell and Molly Humphreys.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Norma Bourque Magnon; three daughters, Stephanie Burley, Claire Mitchell and her husband, Matthew, and Allison Humphreys and her husband, Doug; two sons, Stephen Magnon and his wife, Kelly and Chris Magnon; two sisters, Pearl Hutchinson and Lucille Smith; twelve grandchildren, Rachel Burley, Erin Fontenot, Bryson Burley, Blaire Burley, Barrett Burley, Spencer Magnon, Michael Magnon, Jacob Mitchell, Seth Mitchell, Hannah Mitchell, Bailey Humphreys and Molly Humphreys; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Felecie Benoit Magnon; one grandson, Korey Bowen; and one infant brother, Wallace Magnon.

Kenneth Magnon was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School, and following graduation, went on to attended SLI, (now ULL). He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Airborne Division, working as an artillery mechanic. Mr. Magnon was a dedicated employee of Magnon Electric for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of the IBEW (Electrical Workers) Local Chapter 861, and also served as an Usher at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mr. Magnon loved video photography and electronics. He was a very humble, kind, helpful man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Bryson Burley, Barrett Burley, Jacob Mitchell, Seth Mitchell, Spencer Magnon, Michael Magnon and Bailey Humphreys..

A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE Location on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until time of services.

The Magnon family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Gerri Leger, Tiny Lofton and Worley Firmin, and also the nurses and staff of Paramount Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and loving care given to Mr. Magnon during his time of need.
