The Life of Maksym Szewczyk

Maksym Szewczyk, age 95 of Ansonia and Harrisburg, PA, beloved husband of the late Pelagia Skuba Szewczyk, died peacefully on October 9, 2014, at Harrisburg Hospital. Born in Konieczna, Poland on January 31, 1919, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Lopen Szewczyk. Mr. Szewczyk worked on his family’s farm and served as a Deacon in the Orthodox Church in Poland. He will be fondly remembered for his love of music and singing. Mr. Szewczyk enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be truly missed. He is survived by his devoted children, Peter (Myra) Szewczyk of Ansonia, Krystyna (Walter) Czajkowski of NJ, Maria (Peter) Suchowacki of NJ, and Anna (William) Kuchta of PA; cherished grandchildren, Peter Suchowacki, Jr., Max Czajkowski, and Joseph and Michael Szewczyk; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Szewczyk was predeceased by a sister, Tekla Ksenycz; and brothers, Seman and Ywan Szewczyk. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014, at 11:00 AM in Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Three Saints Orthodox Church.
