The Life of NORMAN DEWEY HILLERTS

Norman D. Hillerts, 77, was born May 21, 1937, to Dewey and Margaret Ruby Hillerts in Charles City, Iowa. He passed away at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny on September 9, 2014.

Norman served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge. He was a devout Christian and was an active member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Des Moines.

Norman retired from AT&T as an electrical technician in 1999, and loved tinkering with electronics any chance he had. He was a magician at heart and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and Justo Hijo Magic Club.

Norman treasured his family and loved spending time with his grandsons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Norman is survived by his daughters, Ruby (John) Olsen, Norma (David) Anderson, and Patti; grandsons, John Patrick and Ian Olsen; as well as his sister, Margaret Denny. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Evangelical Covenant Church, 2625 Hubbell Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2014, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
