The Life of MARY AILEEN WALL

Mary Wall, 93, was born November 19, 1920, to John and Lila Bowman in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She passed away on September 9, 2014, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mary served in the Women’s Army Corps as a cook. She was a longtime member of Grace Church in Des Moines.

Mary and her late husband, Fred, owned and operated L&M Café, LoneTree Café, Silhouette Restaurant, The Inn on Delaware, and Hi-Ho Grill, all of which they took great pride in. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing Barbie clothes, and working in her yard.

Mary is survived by her children, Jacqueline Wall Roberts, Richard Wall, and Lynnette Wall; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; as well as her faithful dog, Vivian. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; son, Brian “Bud” Wall; great-grandchild, Baba Lo; as well as several siblings, Fritz, Bud, Jack, Jim, Betty, and Lila.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014, at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th Street in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
