The Life of MAXINE BREWSTER

Maxine passed away 14 Aug 2014 at the age of 99 years. She was born 19 Oct 1914 and reared in Des Moines, IA. She was the fifth child of John R Brannen and Catherine B. (Condon) Brannen.

She married Edward L Brewster 11 Nov 1938 in Fort Des Moines, IA and was married 32 years; widowed in 1970. She lived in Des Moines, IA, New London, Groton, CT, Clarks Summit, PA, Peoria, IL and Lodi, CA.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, half-brother Donovan C Brannen of Twin Falls, ID; half-sisters Lucrecia Helen Gilchrist and Ruth A Kirk of Des Moines, IA, brothers Bernard D Brannen, Des Moines, IA, John P Brannen, Kansas City, MO; Fred R Brannen, Monroe, IA, and sister Margaret P Magno, Lodi, CA.

She is survived by daughters Sandra J Doty (Edgar) of Lodi, CA, and Dianne K Blodgett (Joel) Des Moines, IA and son Dennis L Brewster, Roselle, IL. She has seven grand children; Denise Rinaldi, CA, Dianne Madigan, UT, Debra Gibbs, LA, Steven Brewster, IL, Brian Brewster, MI, Mark Brewster, WI, and Cathy Lynam, IA; thirteen great grand children and two great great grand children.

She was a 1933 graduate of Lincoln High in Des Moines. She has lived with Sandra and Ed since Dec 1977. She was fond of the following saying, "This time too will pass and life with all its common trifles, but my God and I will go on unendingly." Maxine was an amazing woman; a faithful Christian, hard working, kind, an excellent speller, and wonderful mother. Burial, by cremation, will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Garden of Meditation, Block 1, #140, Des Moines, IA. Our mothers remain in our hearts forever.
