Mickey was born December 31, 1922, Des Moines, Iowa to Cloyse and Beulah McElvogue. She married Paul Coffin on October 4, 1941. Paul was by her side for 67 years until his death. They raised a loving family together, were loved by many friends and family. They were members of Bethany Reformed Church and served the Lord together for several years and in many wonderful ways. She walked with Paul and helped him through all his battles of health problems. Mickey died peacefully in the presence of family knowing she was loved by family and countless friends and now she is with Paul forever with the Lord.

Mickey did numerous things, but the one she did best was mother and friend to many. She had a smile for everyone. Her nurses at the end commented on how she always smiled at them. Mickey made everyone feel welcome in her home. One thing she will be remembered for are her beautiful wedding cakes and her homemade glazed donuts. In her retirement years, she worked at Cutty’s Campground as store mom during the summer, and she wintered with Paul in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Many people have told her children what a wonderful mother they had. Her children knew her deep love for them and loved her for who she was, what she taught them, and how she loved them. They will deeply miss her but are relieved that she will not suffer any longer.

Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents, Cloyse and Beulah; brother, Dick; sister, Lorraine Cummings; granddaughter, Heidi Nemmers; and daughter-in-law, Cherie Coffin. Mickey is survived by her sons, Ron (Bunny) of Cedar Rapids, and Paul (Sharon) of Apache Junction, Arizona; daughters, Kae Coffin and Debbie Judisch of Des Moines. She also has many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Reformed Church in loving memory of Mickey.
