The Life of MYRTLE BERTHA BRUCE

Myrtle Bruce, 87, was born March 23, 1927, to Edward and Bertha Meyer in Lansing, Iowa. She passed away at her home in Des Moines on August 5, 2014.

Myrtle retired from Qwest in 1990 after 22 years of service. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing quilts.

Myrtle is survived by her children, Glenn Bruce Jr. and Cinda (Bret) Harbour; grandchildren, John Bruce, Jessi (Dan) Millard, Trae (Heang) Bruce, and James (Sylvia) Bruce; great-grandchildren, Troy, Haylie, Amni, Ariana, Alexis, and Amia; as well as other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Bruce Sr.; granddaughter, Amanda Harbour; siblings, Les Meyer, Frank Meyer, Esther Newman, and Nettie Rocha; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Bruce; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Myrtle Bruce Memorial Fund in her honor.
