Stein. On November 22d, 1876, at 2 o'clock a.m., John Stein, in the 44th year of his age. A kind husband and affectionate father. I was so long with pain oppressed, That wore my strength away; It made me long for endless rest, Which never can decay. Afflictions sore some time I bore, Physicians were in vain; God thought it best that I should rest, And He eased me of my pain. The Evening Star, November 27, 1876 Local News The funeral of the late John Stein, who died on Wednesday last, took place from Gorsuch chapel, South Washington, yesterday afternoon. Germania Lodge, No. 15, and the drill corps, K. of P., attended. The remains were interred in the Congressional cemetery.
