The Life of VIRGINIA JOSEPHINE ROUTSON
Virginia J. “Ginny Jo” Routson, 84, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at Urbandale Health Care Center from natural causes. She was born February 9, 1930 to Clifford and Josephine Thompson in Des Moines.
Virginia grew up in Des Moines and graduated from North High School. She married Harold Routson on February 13, 1948 and to this union four children were born.
Virginia retired from the VA Hospital in Des Moines where she worked with contracts and in her retirement worked as a mutual teller at Prairie Meadows.
Virginia is survived by her children, Elaine (Denny) Abrolat of Riceville, WI, Dan (Nancy) Routson of Johnston, and Kathy (Les) Routson-Jones; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and siblings, Betty King of Carlisle and Ted Thompson of Sparta, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Routson; and son, Robert Routson.
A graveside service of cremated remains will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue.
