The Life of Myrick Ward

Myrick "Mishelli" "Mike" Ward, Jr.

Myrick "Mishelli" "Mike" Ward, Jr. passed away on June 19, 2014 at the tender age of 89.

Mike was born in Akron, Ohio on June 25, 1924 and was a life long resident of South Akron. Mike retired from Babcock & Wilcox after 36 years as a welder. He also was a Co-founding member of the Akron Zulu motorcycle Club. He was an avid golfer and had a CB breaker handle of "Mishelli".

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores (Dee-Dee) Ward; his parents, Myrick Ward Sr. and Mary L. Ward; brother, Andrew Willis; and sister, Mattie May Ward.

He is survived by his beloved granddaughter, Tinisha (Tee-Tee) Maurice Cartledge of Garfield Heights, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Danaysia Taylor Lee of Hawaii; Goddaughter, Brenda Beavers; and Godson, Michael Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Homegoing service will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 12 p.m. in Rhoden Memorial Home; family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Condolences may be sent 4684 East 85th St., Garfield Hts., Ohio 44125.
