The Life of PAUL DONALD WILLIAMSON

Rev. Paul Donald Williamson, 84, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Paul was born June 27, 1929 in Hollansburg, Ohio, the son of William Oliver and Mary (Morgan) Williamson. He graduated from Olivet Nazarene University and Garrett Theological Seminary and received his doctorate from Oral Roberts University. He was a United Methodist minister for many years serving in the following United Methodist churches: 1956 Ohio-Victor, Immanuel; 1958 Boston Theological Seminary (Uxbridge, Mass.); Feb. 1960 Cedar; 1962 Cedar-Fremont-Kirkville; Jan. 1964 Corydon-Cambria-Millerton; 1967 Corydon-Millerton, Iowa: 1970 Fort Madison, First; 1974 Webster City, Asbury; 1983 Muscatine, Wesley; 1991 Boone, First; 1994 Retired. 1996 Napier.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara; children, Gary, Byron (Vicki), Sharon, Sheryl, Helen (Jim) Sneller, Donna Jean, and Mary (Tim) Chatten; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandson.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son in infancy, Paul Robert; brother, Earl; and nephew, Neal.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4525 Beaver Avenue, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, also at the church, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
