The Life of LAVONNE AMELIA B DEETS

LaVonne Deets, 98, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Valley View Village.

LaVonne was born July 1, 1915 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Mable Burmeister. She retired in 1976 from Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. where she had been a telephone operator for 25 years. LaVonne was a loving foster parent to over 20 children. She grew very close to Michelle who remained a special part of her life. LaVonne was very talented at crafts and especially enjoyed ceramics and crocheting. She liked playing BINGO and visiting Prairie Meadows.

LaVonne is survived by her children, Marlene (Dick) Gale and David (Colleen) Deets; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Deets; daughter, Dixie Martelli; and two grandsons.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a 12 p.m. funeral service at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A private burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
