The Life of JEANNE J SAMUELS

Jeanne Samuels passed away March 5, 3009.

Jeanne was born March 2, 1923 to Merle E. Sylvester and Willa Chapman Sylvester in Calhoun County, Iowa.  She graduated from Sac City High School and moved with her family to Des Moines.  In 1946 she married Clifford H. Samuels.  In 1951, Jeanne won the "Mrs. Des Moines" title.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, decoration, gardening and spending time with her family.  Jeanne worked at the Ankeny Ordinance Plant during WWII and later was employed by Joseph''s Jewelers and served for a time as hostess at Johnny & Kay''s restaurant.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James K. Sylvester; and sister, Joan J. Schooler.  She is survived by her husband of 62 1/2 years, Clifford H. Samuels; her son, Frederick James (Angel) Samuels; her daughter, Sandra Samuels Kane; sisters, Janet M. (Joseph) Patrice of Cincinnati, OH, and Jeri Bollettieri of Brandenton, FL; six grandchildren, Colby Samuels, Taryn and Tylar Samuels, Hannah Samuels, Joseph (Wendy) Vitiritto, and Christina (Rob) Stiles; two great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; and seven grand nieces and nephews.  There will be a private family celebration of her life and burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
