The Life of Howard L. Skartved
Howard Leroy Skartved, age 88, of Euclid, died May 16, 2014, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. He was born May 30, 1925, in Cleveland. Mr. Skartved had retired as a machinist for TRW, where he worked for over 30 years. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, model trains, boating and fishing. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Hazel (Bee); children, Sharon Thomas, Howard Skartved, Lindia (Ken) Bachtel, Pamala (Dave) Kaiser, Judy and Kimberly McDaniels; grandchildren, Jennifer, Sherry, Donna, Angela, Christina, Katy, Kari, Jim and John; 9 great-grandchildren; his cat Rusty and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Rose (Pastore) Skartved; daughter, Dorothy Rose Skartved; son-in-law, George Thomas; sisters, Amy, Freida and Inez; brother, Vernon; parents, Knute and Olive E. Skartvedt; and his beloved dog, Bandit. A chapel service is pending for Wednesday at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, OH. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
