The Life of AUSTIN CHAPMAN
Austin Chapman, 90, was born January 23, 1924, to James and Goldie Chapman in Guyandotte, West Virginia. He passed away May 1, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Austin was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for John Deere as a maintenance welder, retiring in 1985. Following retirement, Austin worked for NPI Security for a number of years. He attended Heritage Assembly of God in Des Moines.
Austin is survived by his daughters, Wanda (Jim) Lamb and Joy (Louie) Jordan; son, Raymond (Linda) Chapman; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katheryn; an infant son, Harold; his parents; and brother, Bud Chapman.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
