The Life of WILLIAM BOYD BROWN
William Brown, 72, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at home surrounded by family, after a tough battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., also at the funeral home.
William was born January 19, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, to James Lester Brown and Helen Marie (Boyd) Brown. He was a graduate of Saydel High School and served in the United States Army. William worked as a pressman for Meredith Publishing/R.R. Donnelley where he retired in 2001.
William enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Western shows, and spending time with his grandson.
William is survived by his wife of 49 years, Georginia; sons, James B. Brown and William R. Brown; daughter, Linda M. Davis; grandson, Ryan J. Davis; sisters, Beverly Dennis and Terry (John) Burgess; brothers-in-law, Jim Finken and Antonio Fazio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Finken and Darlene Fazio; and brother-in-law, Robert Dennis.
